South Jakarta Confirms Readiness for Eid al-Adha 1447 H

The South Jakarta Administration has ensured that qurban activities during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri will proceed smoothly and comply with existing regulations.

The committee has prepared two qurban meat distribution schemes

South Jakarta Vice Mayor Ali Murthadho said the administration is also collaborating with Darul Jannah Mosque in managing the collection, slaughtering, and distribution of qurban animals in South Jakarta.

Jakarta Government Prepares 160 Cows for Eid al-Adha

"As of today, we have received 46 cows and 68 goat. God willing, this number will continue to increase through contributions from residents, employees, and business owners," he said on Tuesday (5/26).

Ali explained that the committee has prepared two qurban meat distribution schemes. The first involves distribution through mosques, foundations, and Islamic boarding schools, while the second will be handled directly by Darul Jannah Mosque through on-site slaughtering activities.

He added that the committee utilized a cattle restraining device during the slaughtering process to meet Islamic slaughtering procedures while ensuring safety throughout the process.

"This tool also helps speed up the slaughtering process. I would also like to convey that qurban activities here begin with animal health inspections conducted by veterinarians from the Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency immediately after the animals are received. Then, during the slaughtering process, the qurban meat will also be re-inspected," he explained.

According to him, the committee has also prepared adequate facilities that meet environmental standards for handling slaughter waste, with blood and animal offal will be buried in designated pits prepared according to environmental standards.

The qurban committee has also prepared bamboo containers, locally known as bongsang or besek, for meat distribution as part of efforts to support the waste sorting program and reduce non-organic waste, particularly plastic use.

"Similar policies are also being implemented at the sub-district and urban village levels," he said.

He hopes this year's Eid al-Adha celebration can help residents, particularly in fulfilling nutritional needs. In addition, the celebration is also expected to support economic activity.

"For residents performing qurban, we are confident that their worship can be properly distributed and professionally managed by the committee here," he noted.
