Thousands of Tourists Flock to Untung Jawa Island During Long Weekend

During the recent long weekend, a total of 3,283 tourists visited Untung Jawa Island, located in the South Seribu Islands Sub-district, Seribu Islands.

Untung Jawa Urban Village Head, Muslim stated that based on visitation data from May 30 to 31, as many as 2,983 tourists arrived on the island. Subsequently, by 11:30 AM on Monday (6/1), more than 300 additional visitors had been recorded.

"We are grateful for the high volume of visitors, which proves that Untung Jawa remains a top choice for vacationers. Its easy accessibility is also a key draw," he expressed, Tuesday (6/2).

He explained that the majority of tourists arrived via Tanjung Pasir Pier in Tangerang Regency using traditional crossing boats. Additionally, visitors also utilized speedboat services from Kali Adem Port in North Jakarta.

His administration remains committed to reorganizing the tourist area to further enhance visitor comfort.

These improvements span multiple sites, such as the public field, Sakura Beach, Nemo Park, Sentigi Park, and the running track embankment.

"At present, the area's revitalization is more than 60 percent complete. We remain committed to enhancing the quality of our facilities and infrastructure so that tourists feel increasingly comfortable when they visit," Muslim continued.

To maintain a safe and orderly environment throughout the long weekend, local authorities, security personnel, and tourism stakeholders carried out joint supervision across several high-traffic areas.

"We also urge all visitors to help keep the environment clean by making use of the sorted waste bins we have provided," he added.

In the meantime, Rusli, who heads the Untung Jawa Island Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), highlighted that the surge in visitors has significantly boosted the livelihoods of local residents, especially micro-entrepreneurs and tourism service vendors.

"Homestay operators, water sports rental services, and culinary business owners alike experienced a significant increase in both activity and revenue over the weekend," he noted.

He is hopeful that this positive trajectory in visitor numbers will continue, bolstered by the area's current redevelopment initiatives.

"We appeal to every visitor to help uphold the hygiene of our beaches and surroundings. By doing so, we ensure that the island’s pristine beauty remains intact for others to experience," he asserted.
