Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung reiterated his steadfast commitment to securing Jakarta a spot among the elite top 60 global cities this year.
My target for this year is for Jakarta to ideally attain a ranking in the 60s
He highlighted that Jakarta's trajectory is on the rise, with its index position surging from 74th to 61st.
These insights were shared during his keynote speech at the Indonesia Summit (IS) 2026, convened at the Tribrata Dharmawangsa Building, Thursday (6/18).
Governor Pramono Convenes with Singaporean Ministers to Fortify Jakarta’s Strategic Alliances“My target for this year is for Jakarta to ideally attain a ranking in the 60s—or perhaps even higher. Can we do it? I am firmly convinced we can, as long as what we are currently planning and building reaches completion,” he remarked.
To attain this milestone, the Jakarta government is steadfastly enhancing various sectors, most notably public transportation. Transjakarta's reach is being progressively extended to neighboring regions through the Transjabodetabek service.
Connectivity across Jakarta’s transport network has hit the 93% mark, boosting public transport usage from 22% to almost 30%. Further, Jakarta now ranks second in ASEAN for public infrastructure.
He noted, these strides are powered by the utilization of technology and AI.
"By leveraging technology and AI through well-conceived strategies and rigorous planning, we have successfully orchestrated this shift," he explained.
Pramono also expressed his dedication to settling outstanding challenges left by his predecessors. A primary focus is the removal of the monorail remnants on Jalan Rasuna Said, with the refurbished site set to open on June 21, 2026. Further, a 300-meter connecting bridge is being developed from JIS to Ancol to facilitate visitor parking in the Ancol area.
Complementing this infrastructure, the KRL station situated under the bridge will also be officially commissioned on June 22.
In a strategic bid to propel Jakarta into the top 20 global cities—under the 'Jakarta Rise #20' initiative—the Jakarta government has deployed an Intelligent Traffic Control System (ITCS) to optimize transportation management.
Aside that, the administration is synchronizing its CCTV network with the Jakarta Polda Metro Jaya to bolster urban security. Public service optimization remains a priority, driven by the advancement of the JAKI and Jakarta Satu platforms, as well as the digitalization of financial transactions across municipal-run markets.
Pramono further noted that much of Jakarta’s ongoing infrastructure work is funded independently of the City Budget (APBD), such as the Bendera Pusaka Parkproject.
"This is how my administration builds public confidence. With that trust as our foundation, we are able to effectively refine and transform Jakarta for the better," he asserted.
