Serving as the Bung Karno Festival 2026 Chairperson, Rano invited all levels of society to commemorate history and ignite the spirit—the 'flame'—that Bung Karno bequeathed to this Republic.
"Bung Karno passed down the flame of mutual cooperation, culture, and the self-confidence to stand on our own feet," Rano stated in his opening remarks.

"These three milestones are not just numbers on a calendar; they are echoes of history. Soekarno reminds us that Indonesia did not emerge from a void; it was forged through the people's struggle, moral courage, and great intellect, fueled by an eternal devotion to this land," he asserted.
He clarified that the fundamental purpose of the Bung Karno Festival is to reaffirm that the legacy of national values, unity, and collective action is still vital for tackling the challenges of the modern era.
"What matters most is not just looking back at the past, but embodying that spirit in our everyday actions," he remarked.
He also lauded the festival for its success in reimagining history as an interactive experience. It is seen as a way to bridge the national narrative to the wider community through creative engagement.
"This festival brings history to life in a way that people can truly relate to. A variety of positive and exciting activities are featured, such as mass workouts, traditional games, Bung Karno and Megawati impersonation contests, video competitions, and vibrant cultural shows," he shared.
It also delivers a tangible economic impact for the community through the presence of local business stalls.
"MSME booths, particularly the Mustika Rasa showcase which offers both culinary insights and experiences for Jakartans, are highly commendable. This festival simultaneously provides direct benefits to the participating MSMEs," he added.
With the Bung Karno Festival, the Jakarta government is dedicated to continuously creating space for cultural and artistic empowerment among the public.
"This event is designed to foster a youth that takes pride in its heritage, loves its culture, and is prepared to give back to Jakarta and the nation," he asserted.
