9,387 Visitors Join Batik-Making Classes at Textile Museum

A total of 9,387 visitors took part in batik-making classes at the Textile Museum during the first half of 2026. Sessions are held every Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Art Museum Management Unit Head Sri Kusumawati said the batik workshops have been offered for several years as an inclusive and hands-on way to introduce visitors to Indonesia's cultural heritage.

"Participants only need to pay Rp50,000 to join a batik-making workshop and take home their finished craft," said Ati on Tuesday (7/7).

The museum offers several types of batik workshops, including hand-drawn batik (batik tulis), stamped batik (batik cap), ecoprint, and jumputan (tie-dye).

Ati explained that visitors interested in workshops other than the hand-drawn batik class must book in advance and choose their preferred workshop.

 "The workshops at the Textile Museum are more than just batik-making classes. They are also part of our efforts to preserve and promote Indonesia's cultural heritage," she pointed.

Ati added that, in addition to the Rp50,000 workshop fee, participants are also required to pay the museum's admission fee. On weekdays (Tuesday to Friday), admission costs Rp10,000 for adults, Rp5,000 for students and children, and Rp50,000 for international visitors.

On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), admission is Rp15,000 for adults, while students and children continue to pay Rp5,000 and international visitors Rp50,000. The museum also offers discounted rates for group bookings of at least 30 people.

"The museum is open until 3 PM and is closed every Monday," Ati noted.
