We have already taken mitigation measures at several points
Head of South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Bernad Octavianus said the pedestrian bridge suffered severe damage after being hit by a truck. The impact caused one of the supporting pillars to detach from its foundation, requiring immediate evacuation for the safety of road users.
Pedongkelan Bridge Lights Back On After Swift Repairs"During the evacuation process, which begins at 10 AM, traffic heading to Blok M will be diverted. Vehicles heading east will be diverted in front of the Mampang Police Station, while vehicles from Warung Buncit will be directed through the Mampang Underpass toward Jalan Gatot Subroto," he said, Tuesday (7/14).
Bernard explained that 20 personnel from the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency were on standby at several points to manage traffic flow and ease congestion during the evacuation process.
"We have already taken mitigation measures at several points, including the Mampang descent, where the incident occurred, and the Santa traffic light. Engineering efforts were immediately underway as soon as heavy evacuation vehicles arrived at the site," he explained.
The truck that hit the pedestrian bridge will be evacuated after the bridge structure has been successfully lowered and confirmed to be in a safe condition.
Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency, Rifky Rismal stated the repair process is still awaiting the arrival of heavy equipment. The initial step will be to trim the roof of the pedestrian bridge before removing the main bridge structure.
"We'll break it down first, then we'll remove the beam. Hopefully, this afternoon the handling process will be completed and running optimally," he hoped.
