21 Motorcycles Netted for Illegal Sidewalk Parking at ITC Kuningan

Joint personnel took action against 21 motorcycles found parked on the sidewalk of Jalan Prof Dr Satrio, specifically in front of ITC Kuningan in Setiabudi.

We will impose stricter penalties following applicable regulations

Those personnel consisted of personnel from the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, along with the army, police, and Satpol PP.

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Operational Head, Ebenezer Tobing explained that before the vehicles were impounded, personnel provided a 10-minute grace period for owners to relocate them.

"We gave a 10-minute window for the vehicles being targeted. Owners who showed up were cautioned not to repeat the violation, while the unattended motorcycles were towed away," he expressed, Friday (7/17).

He explained that violators whose vehicles were seized are currently subject to administrative sanctions. They are required to sign a formal statement on stamped paper at the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency office.

"Should they commit the same offense again, we will impose stricter penalties following applicable regulations," he warned.

"We are letting violators off with a formal warning in the form of a written statement at our office," he clarified.

Tobing also cautioned residents against following the directions of illegal parking touts who misappropriate public paths. He emphasized, sidewalks are vital public spaces that must remain dedicated to pedestrians.

"We have strictly instructed illegal parking attendants to stop profiting from public facilities. Further, we urge people to ignore any directions from these attendants to park in public areas," he remarked.

Bayhaqi, a motorcyclist, confessed to parking on the sidewalk after an attendant directed him there for a Rp 3,000 fee.

"I was in a hurry to pick up an order at ITC Kuningan," he explained, noting that he followed the attendant's instructions despite the illegal location.
