Pramono Urges End to Street Brawls as City Expands Sports Facilities

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged residents to put an end to street brawls following a recent incident in Tugu Utara Urban Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta.

"Once again, I urge anyone involved in street brawls to stop. There is no place for them in Jakarta," Pramono said at Tribrata Hotel & Convention Center, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/21).

He encouraged residents to channel their energy into more positive and productive activities. To support that goal, the Jakarta Provincial Government is continuing to provide public facilities, including sports facilities, that meet the community's needs.

According to him, better public facilities can help foster stronger community ties and reduce conflict among residents.

"For example, we've built skateboarding facilities and boxing rings in areas where street brawls used to occur frequently," he explained.

Pramono added that he is looking into the factors behind the recent brawl in Koja, saying such clashes are often sparked by seemingly minor issues.

He reiterated the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to expanding public facilities for residents as part of its efforts to help prevent similar incidents.

"Once again, we urge people to eliminate, or at least significantly reduce, street brawls in Jakarta. We will continue providing the facilities needed to support that effort," he asserted.
