"We successfully completed 21 trips to ensure every last bit of waste was removed," he expressed, Friday (7/24).

He explained that ongoing cleaning efforts are essential to maintain the cleanliness of the housing complex and prevent future waste accumulation. To bolster local waste management, 12 new dustbins have been provided.

"In the future, waste at this disposal site will be managed using small electric compactor units," he clarified.

He went on to say that under Gubernatorial Instruction No. 5/2024 and Jakarta Regulation No. 102/2021, public housing complexes are categorized as area waste managers—putting them on the same level as hotels, restaurants, and apartments.

He called for strong cooperation from the Flat Management Unit (UPRS) to ensure that trash accumulation does not recur.

"Waste is a shared responsibility. When processed correctly, it holds economic value that can serve as an additional source of income for families," he furthered.

The action above receive appreciation from Assistant for North Jakarta Economic Affairs and Development, Wawan Budi Rohman.

Taking a proactive stance, North Jakarta is launching an outreach program for UPRS caretakers in all six sub-districts to streamline waste management.

"We need everyone to have skin in the game. From the flat caretakers and RT/RW heads to the local authorities, it’s a collective effort. The Environmental Sub-agency shouldn't have to carry the burden alone," he explained.

Rohman is urging residents to take an active part in waste segregation, following the successful independent waste management model at the Rorotan Flats.

"Let’s keep this site spotless. If we don’t all do our part, the trash will just pile up again. It’s time to embrace a cleaner lifestyle by sorting our waste right where it starts," he emphasized.
