Equipped with Elevators, Ciracas GOR Pedestrian Bridge Infused with Betawi Heritage

The Jakarta Bina Marga Agency remains steadfast in its commitment to providing safe and inclusive infrastructure. One of its latest projects is the construction of the Ciracas GOR Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) on Jalan Raya Bogor, East Jakarta.

The bridge, which is slated for completion in December 2026, is designed to ensure both convenience and safety for pedestrians. It also aims to bolster the area's identity by blending a sporty design concept with traditional Betawi cultural elements.

According to the project specifications, the pedestrian bridge will feature a 23-meter span, a width of 3 meters, and a height of 5.2 meters.

Beyond its primary function as a crossing, the facility will have elevators to enhance accessibility for people with disabilities, pregnant women, the elderly, and children. Additionally, CCTV cameras and artistic lighting will be installed to improve security and the neighborhood’s overall aesthetic appeal.

Urban Utility Infrastructure and Facilities Division Head, Imam Adi Nugraha noted that the project aims to go above and beyond mere utility by adding cultural value to the city’s landscape.

"We’ve designed this bridge to be a top-tier public facility—safe, comfortable, and inclusive for everyone. By marrying a sporty look with Betawi heritage, we want to create a landmark that reinforces the neighborhood's identity and levels up the experience for the community," he explained, Wednesday (7/29).

He pointed out that the elevators are a key addition to ensure people from all walks of life can use the bridge seamlessly. This facility will make moving around much easier, especially for those who need it most, like the disabled, pregnant women, seniors, and children.

"On top of that, we’ve included CCTV and decorative lighting to provide peace of mind and add a touch of beauty to the city’s landscape," he added.

He hoped that the new pedestrian bridge would mitigate the risk of traffic accidents caused by people crossing Jalan Raya Bogor, which is known for its heavy traffic volume.

"Residents are also urged to support the project as part of a collective effort to transform Jakarta into a safer, more livable, inclusive, and competitive city through the provision of high-quality infrastructure," he concluded.
