Central Jakarta Expands Integrated TB Screening to 578 Locations

The Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency is intensifying its integrated tuberculosis (TB) screening program at 578 locations across 44 urban villages.

Conducted as part of the Free Health Checkup (CKG) program, the initiative will run from early August through October 2026, targeting 57,800 residents.

Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin instructed district and urban village administrations to mobilize Dasawisma cadres, RT/RW leaders, Jumantik volunteers, and other community members to support the integrated TB screening campaign and help achieve the screening target.

"I have instructed urban village heads and cadres to accompany the Health Sub-agency teams during integrated TB screening activities in the field," Arifin asserted.

He expressed confidence that the involvement of urban village heads, RT/RW leaders, and cadres would help more Central Jakarta residents receive education on early TB detection and treatment.

"It will also enable health teams to provide prompt and appropriate medical treatment when TB cases are identified," he added.

Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head Ilmi Tri Indiarto urged residents not to be concerned or afraid when participating in the integrated TB screening.

"Tuberculosis is curable if patients follow their doctor's advice and take their medication regularly for at least six months," he said, adding that health teams aim to examine 100 residents at each screening location.

"We will also carry out contact investigations and screen people who have been in close contact with TB patients to identify additional cases and begin treatment as soon as possible," he added.

According to data from the Jakarta Health Agency, 3,174 TB cases were recorded across 44 urban villages between January and July 31, 2026, with all patients currently undergoing treatment.
