Boxing Ring Under Kampung Melayu Flyover to Be Built This Week

East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin confirmed that construction of a boxing ring under the Kampung Melayu Flyover in Balimester Urban Village, Jatinegara, will begin this week or, at the latest, next week. Funding for the project has been provided by PAM Jaya through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

The facility will later be managed by local residents

"PAM Jaya, through its CSR program, has agreed to begin construction in the first week of August," Munjirin said on Wednesday (8/5).

He expressed hope that construction would be completed quickly, noting that local youths have long been looking forward to having a boxing ring similar to the one beneath the Pasar Rebo Flyover.

"The facility will later be managed by local residents," Munjirin added.

According to Munjirin, the sports facility is intended to provide a venue for talented young boxers while also helping address the problem of street brawls in the surrounding area.

"We hope the boxing ring will help put an end to street brawls in the area," he said.
