Syafrin Encourages South Jakarta Residents to Eat More Fish

The South Jakarta City Administration, through the Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency, held the kick-off event for Cibfishtival 2026 at Cibis Park in Cilandak Timur Urban Village, Pasar Minggu District.

Child's growth and development

The activity is part of the "Gemarikan" campaign (Movement to Popularize Fish Consumption) and serves as an effort to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in South Jakarta.

Central Jakarta is Committed to Reducing Stunting

South Jakarta Mayor, Syafrin Liputo stated that Cibfishtival 2026 serves as a significant momentum to cultivate a habit among the public, particularly children and the younger generation, of enjoying fish consumption.

"Children can learn about the benefits of fish and interact with them directly, thereby changing their perspective, shifting from reluctance due to a fear of bones to actually enjoying eating fish," he said, Tuesday (8/11).

Syafrin expressed appreciation to the management of Cibis Park for collaborating to facilitate the inaugural edition of the Gemarikan event.

"We hope that similar programs can be replicated in various other locations across South Jakarta, thereby further fostering a culture of fish consumption among children," he hoped.

Head of Jakarta KPKP Agency, Hasudungan A Sidabalok explained Cibfishtival 2026 represents an innovation in the implementation of the Gemarikan program, which has previously tended to be campaign-oriented.

"This time, it goes beyond a mere campaign. There is a synergistic approach involving everything from stocking fish fry and harvesting to distributing the fish directly to the community," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency, Ridho Sosro stated this activity targets approximately 1,000 children, comprising 750 students from SDN Cilandak Timur 01 and SDN Cilandak Timur 03, as well as 250 early childhood education (PAUD) children from Cilandak Timur Urban Village.

"Fish consumption is important for a child's growth and development because it contains various nutrients required by the body," he stated.

According to him, the participants also received gift bags and packages of processed fish-based products, such as marinated tilapia and fish katsu.

"This fish consumption campaign is expected to effectively increase fish consumption rates, thereby fostering public awareness regarding the importance of nutrition. It is hoped that this will contribute to accelerating the reduction of stunting rates," he hoped.
