Pramono: Jakarta’s WFH and PJJ Based on Central Government Orders

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the work-from-home (WFH) policy—capped at 50 percent for civil servants (ASN)—and distance learning (PJJ) for public and private schools on Tuesday (8/18) were based on central government directives.

What matters is that we execute the directives

Nevertheless, Pramono emphasized that civil servants responsible for direct public services are not permitted to work from home or apply a work from anywhere (WFA) scheme.

"They must be on the ground; they need to interact directly with residents who require their services," he expressed, Tuesday (8/18).

Independence Momentum to Strengthen Jakarta’s Identity and People Welfare

He reiterated that the implementation of distance learning for students and the WFH policy for civil servants within the Jakarta Provincial Government was carried out following directives from the central government.

Pramono declined to speculate on whether the policy was linked to public demonstrations occurring on the same day.

"What matters is that we execute the directives. I do not wish to dwell on that," he asserted.

Previously, the Jakarta government had implemented a policy of up to 50 percent WFH for civil servants and PJJ for students in both public and private schools today. This policy was instituted in observance of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

The WFH scheme is being carried out selectively, utilizing mobile-based online attendance tracking, and does not apply to frontline units providing 24-hour direct services.

Meanwhile, the implementation of distance learning remains closely monitored to ensure that learning objectives are achieved without compromising the optimization of public services or organizational performance.
