Pramono Calls for Global Investment in 37 Strategic Infrastructure Projects

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is urging investors to pour capital into Jakarta, noting that the city’s investment landscape is growing stronger than ever. The statement was made during the inauguration of the 2026 Jakarta Investment Festival in Central Jakarta this Friday (8/28).

I am reaching out to you as Governor to invest in our city

"I am reaching out to you as Governor to invest in our city. Jakarta promises a profitable environment for your business to thrive," Pramono expressed.

Despite global economic headwinds, Jakarta’s economy continues its strong upward trajectory. In the first half of 2026, the city recorded a robust 5.52% growth rate—outpacing the national average—while keeping inflation steady at a controlled 2.5%.

This economic vigor has propelled Jakarta’s global standing, which jumped three spots to 71st in competitiveness rankings. As a global hub, Jakarta now sits at 53rd place among the world’s most influential capitals.

"Our ability to outperform global cities like Washington D.C. underscores the deep-seated trust investors have in Jakarta," he expressed.

Capitalizing on this positive sentiment, the administration has unveiled an investment pipeline of 37 strategic projects valued at Rp 115 trillion. Key investment areas include integrated urban zones, residential projects, enhanced transportation networks, clean water systems, and advanced waste management transformations.

Infrastructure and human capital are the dual engines of Jakarta’s growth. With a Human Development Index of 85.05, Jakarta offers a high-quality workforce to match its urban readiness.

To support these projects, the city is set to enter the capital market with municipal bonds.

"Don't just invest in a project; invest in a city’s future. We invite you to be part of Jakarta’s historic transformation," he explained.

Investment and Downstreaming and Head of BKPM Minister, Rosan Roeslani—who also serves as the CEO of Danantara Indonesia—pointed out that Jakarta remains a primary engine for national investment.

To guarantee the success of Jakarta’s strategic pipeline, Rosan called for seamless synergy between the central and provincial administrations.

"We're committed to facilitating and overseeing the implementation of these projects to ensure they are done right. Our goal is to create a ripple effect where the benefits extend beyond the capital, driving prosperity for the whole of Indonesia’s economy," he continued.

According to DPMPTSP Jakarta Head, Heru Hermawanto, JIF 2026 is Jakarta’s flagship event aimed at cementing the city's reputation as a leading destination for global capital.

He noted, Facilitated by the Jakarta Investment Centre (JIC), the forum bridges the gap between ambitious urban planning and private sector investment.

"We're excited to present a portfolio of 37 high-impact, sustainable infrastructure projects that are officially ready-to-offer, providing a clear roadmap for investors looking to grow with Jakarta," he added.

The project portfolio involves collaboration across four national SOEs, ten Jakarta municipal corporations and their subsidiary, alongside two public service agencies. Sectors represented include residential, hospitality, sports and leisure, industrial and logistics, commercial, TOD, utilities, and transportation networks.

"We are highly anticipating the opportunity to share ideas and solidify collaborations through today’s plenary sessions and our dedicated investor and leadership roundtables," he added.

Notably, the Jakarta Investment Festival (JIF) 2026 is strategically designed to attract global investment and foster high-level partnerships to solidify Jakarta’s position as a global city.

Running from August 27-28, 2026, under the theme 'Advancing Today, Securing Tomorrow,' the summit features more than 60 collaborators, 60 expert speakers, 37 investment projects, and approximately 30 exhibition booths. The comprehensive lineup of events includes business forums, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, exclusive one-on-one sessions, and investor gatherings.
