Rano Karno Sees Bank Jakarta Financing as a Catalyst for Traders' Prosperity

Jakarta Vice Governor, Rano Karno, believes that the partnership between Bank Jakarta and Perumda Pasar Jaya is a vital step toward fortifying the economic resilience of local MSMEs.

There will be an ongoing synergy between the bank and the traders to refine their business management

Through targeted KUR and Non-KUR funding, entrepreneurs are poised to expand their businesses and prosper. Karno underscored that reliable access to capital is the bedrock of business continuity.

"Working capital certainty is key to survival in this sector," he explained, during a ceremony for 100 new credit recipients at Kramat Jati Central Market, Tuesday (9/1).

Supplementing today’s cohort of 100 recipients, Rano detailed that Bank Jakarta has already disbursed financing to 167 traders, with total credit allocations aggregating to approximately Rp 48 billion.

"Hope this mass signing ceremony will serve as a catalyst, piquing the interest of the broader community of 5,000 traders at Kramat Jati Market to leverage Bank Jakarta’s MSME financing programs," he added.

Rano also pointed out that financial literacy is the necessary companion to formal credit access.

This integration is key to helping small businesses adopt prudent financial practices that drive long-term prosperity.

"There will be an ongoing synergy between the bank and the traders to refine their business management. Ideally, this program will serve as a catalyst for growth that we can soon introduce to every other market in Jakarta," he hoped.

Bank Jakarta President Director, Agus H. Widodo emphasized that the program is far more than a lending exercise; it is a strategic drive to expand financial accessibility, thus micro-enterprises can thrive and transition to the next tier.

"Our mission is to eliminate the hurdle of searching for a bank. Bank Jakarta’s priority is to be physically and operationally integrated among the traders, ensuring our services are always within their reach," he remarked.

To facilitate capital access, Agus detailed that Bank Jakarta offers both KUR (subsidized) and Non-KUR financing schemes. The KUR program provides unsecured credit facilities with a loan ceiling of up to Rp 100 million.

In contrast, the Non-KUR program allows traders to utilize their business stalls as collateral.

"Traders accessing the Non-KUR facility can obtain up to Rp 500 million, with a competitive interest rate of approximately 10 percent per annum," he elaborated.

Ultimately, Bank Jakarta’s success is not measured by the sheer volume of credit disbursed. Instead, the true benchmark lies in the socio-economic impact: when financing empowers traders to expand their operations, drive revenue growth, stimulate job creation, and facilitate the transition of Jakarta’s MSMEs to a higher commercial tier.
