South Jakarta Career Fest Offers 3,857 Job Opportunities

The South Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Sub-agency held a Career Fest at the Balai Prajurit Ragunan in East Cilandak Urban Village, Pasar Minggu Sub-district. Held from September 3-4, 2026, the event brought together 37 companies offering 3,857 job vacancies.

South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo said the Career Fest is more than an annual event, serving as a platform for collaboration among businesses, job seekers, training providers, and the community to help reduce the open unemployment rate.

"According to the latest Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, the open unemployment rate in South Jakarta has fallen to 5.79 percent. This means our efforts to connect businesses with their workforce needs are paying off," he said on Thursday (9/3).

Syafrin said his administration also invited educational institutions to gain a firsthand understanding of the industry's current workforce needs. The move aims to ensure that education at schools and universities is aligned with the skills required by the job market.

"We also hope job seekers will use this opportunity to gain a better understanding of the business sector. This is intended to help them find jobs that match their competencies, educational backgrounds, and skills acquired during school or university," he explained.

Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency Head Syaripudin said that in addition to general positions such as account managers and IT programmers, the job fair also offers employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

"The effectiveness rate of the Jakarta Provincial Government's job fairs is 40 percent. The recruitment process takes one to three months because it involves administrative screening, interviews, and meeting the companies' qualifications," he noted.

Syaripudin said the open unemployment rate in Jakarta has continued to decline, from 6.18 percent to 6.05 percent, and now to 5.79 percent.

According to him, the Career Fest also provides information on job training and involves MSMEs supported by the South Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Sub-agency.

"Job seekers here can also attend talk shows, get free health checks, and more," he added.

Meanwhile, Jakarta City Council Vice Chair Wibi Andrino reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programs that promote better job quality and equal employment opportunities for all Jakarta residents.

He said access to decent jobs would improve people's welfare, reduce inequality, and make development more inclusive.

"Let's make this event more than just a ceremony. Let it be a concrete step toward promoting inclusive economic growth, creating opportunities for our young people, and building a fairer and more prosperous Jakarta for all," he emphasized.
