Pramono Lauds Satpol PP’s New Compassionate Identity

Jakarta’s face is changing for the better, and Governor Pramono Anung credits the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) for its increasingly professional and humanistic image.

During a celebration at Taman Ismail Marzuki for the dual anniversaries of Satpol PP and Satlinmas, Pramono highlighted how the agency has shifted its approach.

He pointed to the '4S' philosophy—being courteous, smiling, greeting, and saluting—as the key to this new identity. 'I see a much more compassionate side to the force now,' he remarked, noting that their behavior is a direct reflection of the city itself.

Pramono shared this statement during the celebration of Satpol PP's 76th-anniversary and Satlinmas' 64th anniversary, held at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in Central Jakarta.

"Satpol PP is the face of Jakarta. Their behavior defines how people see our capital. By consistently applying the '4S' philosophy—Courtesy, Smiles, Greetings, and Salutations—they have evolved into a far more humanistic institution," he expressed, Wednesday (9/9).

As a gesture of appreciation for their contribution to urban stability, Pramono has greenlit plans for a fitting Satpol PP Command Headquarters.

Blueprinting for the facility is targeted to wrap up no later than the end of 2024. Among the several location options being prepared by the ctiy government, Cempaka Putih is under serious consideration.

"After discussing this with the Vice Governor and the City Secretary, we have reached a consensus that Satpol PP deserves a well-equipped headquarters. We will ensure the planning stage is completed before the year is out," he added.

Emphasizing their role as frontliners in Jakarta's global city aspirations, he called for closer cooperation between Satpol PP and other security forces.

He pointed out that public stability is the foundation for prosperity, directly impacting the economy, healthcare, and education.

"The essence of a livable city—safety, health, and education—rests largely on your shoulders. Your dedication provides a vital contribution to our progress, even in ways you might not have recognized," he added.

He called on the personnel to remain professional and emotionally resilient, even in challenging situations.

"Together, let's guard Jakarta’s journey toward a global city status. Let’s protect our citizens' sense of security, create room for economic prosperity, and maintain global confidence in Jakarta," he concluded.

In the meantime, Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Satriadi Gunawan emphasized that the event fosters a stronger sense of solidarity and cross-level synergy in upholding public tranquility and safety.

To commemorate its 76th year, Satpol PP held various activities, notably a socialization program by the KPK aimed at reinforcing institutional integrity and preventing corruption or gratification.

There are 1,045 attendees gathered for the ceremony, representing a wide spectrum of city governance—from regional agency heads and provincial officers to urban village-level personnel, Satlinmas members, and Prabu units.

Satpol PP also recognized the dedication and achievements of personnel and partners in maintaining public order and community protection (Tramtibum Linmas).

"We presented awards to competition winners, covering initiatives such as Public Order-Focused Urban Village Head, Satpol PP School Outreach program at sub-district level, marching drills for Satlinmas, and Jakarta Prabu categories for real community impact and environmental advocacy," he noted.

Further, the current public order situation in Jakarta is stable and conducive. He credited this to the '4S' philosophy (Smile, Greeting, Salutation, and Politeness), which has redefined the agency's operational style.

"This action encourages a more approachable attitude and prioritizes a people-centric approach, ensuring that our personnel remain disciplined yet responsive to the public’s aspirations," he emphasized.
