Bundaran HI MRT Station Upgrade Reaches 23.5% Milestone Ahead of Phase 2A

The overhaul of Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station is gaining momentum, with construction reaching 23.52%.

It will deliver over 4,400 square meters of versatile space

Heavy structural work—from pre-boring at Outlets 1 and 2 to sheet piling for open-cut digging—continues at full speed.

The expansion at Bundaran HI Station is paving the way for higher passenger volumes ahead of MRT Phase 2A.

MRT Jakarta will Develop a Placemaking Concept in Kota Tua

According to PT MRT Jakarta's Corporate Secretary Division Head Rendy Primartantyo, the overhaul enhances underground circulation while unlocking strategic connections to nearby commercial hubs.

"It will deliver over 4,400 square meters of versatile space dedicated to retail, services, and brand partnerships," he added, Friday (9/11).

According to the plans, the multifunctional space will be flanked by three new entrances: two on the west side of M.H. Thamrin and one on the east.

Passengers will enjoy seamless access to both sides of the boulevard via a combination of escalators, stairs, and a dedicated elevator.

Passengers can also reach the facility using the elevator at the Transjakarta Bundaran HI Astra bus stop. Besides the extended concourse and entrances, construction includes a dedicated cooling and ventilation tower.

"The entire project is slated for completion by mid-2027," he confirmed.

This project aligns with PT MRT Jakarta’s Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) vision, turning the station into an interconnected urban hub linked to nearby commercial buildings.

Sitting 18 meters below ground, Bundaran HI Station ranks among the North-South Line's busiest points, serving up to 500,000 commuters monthly.

Those numbers are projected to climb once the North-South Line's Phase 2A Segment 1 opens between Bundaran HI and Monas.

"This layout prepares us for Phase 2A's launch, with the Monas stretch slated for late 2027 and full extension to Kota by late 2029," he emphasized.
