Pramono Focuses on Improving Investment Climate to Attract Investors

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung outlined the Jakarta Provincial Government's strategy to transform the capital into a global city by strengthening public trust and ensuring investment certainty.

Removing various obstacles and providing greater certainty for investors

He said both aspects are essential for Jakarta to fully prepare itself to become a global, green, and resilient city.

Pramono made the remarks while attending the 2026 Jakarta Investment Awards (JIA), themed "Investing in a Global, Green, and Resilient Jakarta" at The Westin Jakarta in South Jakarta on Monday (9/14).

"As we approach Jakarta's 500th anniversary, let's make Jakarta a better, safer, and more comfortable city while building trust around the world so people will come and invest in Jakarta," Pramono asserted.

He is targeting Jakarta to rank among the world's top 50 cities in the Global Cities Index by 2030. To achieve this, the Jakarta Provincial Government is focusing on removing various obstacles and providing greater certainty for investors.

One of the measures is streamlining the licensing process for requirements such as the Floor Area Ratio (KLB) and Certificate of Fitness for Use (SLF), which can now be completed within a maximum of 15 working days.

These bureaucratic improvements are strengthening investor confidence and driving development in Jakarta without placing a burden on the city budget (APBD).

"It doesn't use any city budget funds at all. Where does the funding come from? Strategic partners. Why is that possible? Because of the trust we have built. This includes the development of Semanggi Park," he explained.

Investment realization in Jakarta has increased from around Rp103 trillion in 2021 to Rp270 trillion in 2025. The positive investment growth trend continued into the second quarter of 2026, reaching Rp173 trillion.

Investment in Jakarta currently accounts for around 17.2 percent of the national total and has helped drive regional economic growth to 5.52 percent. Pramono said this level of public trust has also had a positive impact on the tourism sector and international events.

"Measuring public trust is simple. BTS would not play for three days on December 26, 27, and 29 if Jakarta were not safe and comfortable. Likewise, in two weeks, The Weeknd will perform at JIS," he pointed out.

At the event, the Governor expressed his appreciation to businesses that have contributed to Jakarta's development through their investments. He hopes Jakarta can present a friendlier, more transparent, and more trusted image to the international community.

"I would especially like to thank them for that. I believe that without investment in Jakarta and without public trust, Jakarta would not look the way it does today," he added.

Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Chair Shinta Kamdani praised the Jakarta Provincial Government for organizing the 2026 Jakarta Investment Awards. She said the event serves as an appreciation platform for businesses that have contributed to Jakarta's development.

"Quality investment is capital that compounds. It continuously multiplies its value, creates jobs, increases productivity, supports local suppliers, brings technology and innovation, and ultimately makes a city stronger in facing change," she noted.

She said Jakarta is an attractive city for investors. To strengthen investor confidence, however, further improvements are needed to provide greater certainty for businesses.

These include simplifying licensing procedures, ensuring legal certainty, reforming the tax system, reducing energy costs, and other measures.

"This does not mean that businesses have lost their appetite for investing. We are waiting for an ecosystem that makes investment more predictable, more competitive, and more productive," she explained.

Shinta added that Jakarta has a unique position as a place where capital, technology, talent, finance, and ideas come together. Apindo is also committed to remaining a ready partner for the Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We believe Jakarta does not have to choose between being global, green, or resilient. Jakarta has to be all three at the same time," Shinta emphasized.
