Water Channels in Gang Palem IV Revitalized

The Blue Troop personnel of Ciracas District's Water Resources Unit, East Jakarta are improving the water channel in Gang Palem IV, RT 08/06, Ciracas Urban Village.

The Unit Coordinator, Deby said the revitalization is a follow-up to residents' proposals through the Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang).

"The project is being run along 52 meters by involving seven personnel," she said, Tuesday (9/15).

She added that the existing channel was replaced using a 40x40 centimeter U-ditch to make it stronger.

"Work started last Monday and is targeted to be completed within one month," she added.

She emphasized that this revitalization will optimize the channel's function due to its increased capacity. Therefore, it is hoped that it will effectively prevent flooding.

"I ask residents to help keep the drains clean, especially by not throwing rubbish carelessly," she appealed.

Meanwhile, Head of RT 08/06, Ciracas Urban Village, Misar Sulaeman appreciated the realization of the revitalization because the condition of the old channel had been badly damaged.

"The old water channel has been using a hong with a diameter of around 30 centimeters for about 15 years, there is a lot of damage, it has collapsed and is porous," he admitted.

He hopes that the use of U-ditches can increase the channel's capacity to ease water flow, especially during high rainfall.
