As Manggarai LRT Launches, DPRD Calls for Expanded Feeder Services

Following the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT Jakarta route, Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Chairman Suhud Alynudin called for enhanced transit connectivity, specifically urging Microtrans to expand deeper into residential areas and high-mobility zones.

According to Suhud, effective feeder systems make station access effortless. He added that keeping transit fares low is essential to shift commuters away from personal cars.

“Our main focus is creating a truly integrated transit network. Microtrans must extend its reach into local communities so people in residential pockets have direct access to LRT stations,” he expressed, Thursday (9/17).

Fares at Rp 8, Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT Operates Today

According to him, final fare pricing will follow a comprehensive study by the Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) alongside lawmakers and relevant parties.

"We expect the fares to be reasonable. Realizing an integrated fare system is crucial to facilitating public mobility in Jakarta and reducing reliance on private transportation," he explained.

Suhud also backed Danantara’s involvement in Jakarta’s infrastructure development, noting that central government support is essential to ease the burden on the city budget (APBD).

"Central government support in this development is crucial, and Danantara can step in to assist—whether by purchasing bonds or exploring other funding schemes," he added.

Jakarta DPRD Vice Chairman, Wibi Andrino highlighted the operation of the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT as a key step in shifting commuters toward public transit.

He encouraged the public to try out the service and share their feedback during its initial trial phase.

”Once inaugurated by the President, it should ideally be operating at full capacity. From what I’ve seen, it’s already well-organized—now it’s just a matter of testing it out over these eight days with the promotional Rp 8 fare,” he explained.

Additionally, he pointed out the necessity of park-and-ride infrastructure near the Manggarai LRT Station. He advocated for a joint agreement with Pasar Raya Manggarai to ensure reasonable parking fees for individuals continuing their journey via mass transit.

"I am hoping for a official scheme with Pasar Raya Manggarai so that citizens parking their personal vehicles can be offered a low, flat fee," he stated.
