Strengthening Health Services, Pramono Inaugurates New Jakarta PMI Building

The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, inaugurated the new building of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Jakarta Province which coincided with the momentum of the 81st anniversary of PMI in Central Jakarta, Thursday (9/17).

Built 100% from taxes

Pramono said that the construction of the new PMI building, which cost Rp 233 billion, was funded entirely by the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD). This demonstrates the transparency of the use of tax revenue collected from the public.

"Mr. JK (Jusuf Kalla) and I are frankly impressed with this building. This means it was built 100% from taxes. People pay taxes. And Jakarta is a city that provides transparency regarding tax use," said Pramono.

Furthermore, the Governor also stated that transparency and certainty in the business climate have successfully increased business confidence in the Jakarta Provincial Government. This is reflected in the numerous development projects undertaken using creative financing, such as the Building Floor Coefficient (KLB) and the Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF).

Various developments carried out using creative financing include the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck, the development of Semanggi Park, and others.

"Not using APBD funds. Where? Because of strategic partners. So people have trust in the Jakarta government, which is what we're using to build Jakarta today," he added.

Meanwhile, in the health sector, Pramono said that the Jakarta Provincial Government is the only province that has implemented Nucleic Acid Tests for diseases such as hepatitis, HIV, and so on.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, appreciated the Jakarta Provincial Government for assisting in the construction of the PMI DKI Jakarta headquarters for humanitarian purposes.

"I am truly grateful to the Jakarta Regional Government, Mr. Governor, for the grant or construction of this headquarters and Blood Donor Unit," he said.

According to him, PMI has an important role in providing blood bags for the community and helping disaster victims.

The Chairperson of the Jakarta Provincial PMI Management, Beky Mardani, added that the new PMI building consists of two parts, each built with 5 and 10 floors, and is useful for operational purposes for the blood donor unit.

The Jakarta PMI prepares around 1,000 to 1,200 blood bags every day.

"We distribute to over 400 hospitals throughout Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek). More than 400 hospitals and 64 Hospital Blood Banks (BDRS) in Jakarta and the surrounding areas," he said.

Beky stated that screening at the Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross Blood Donor Unit (UDD) meets national and international standards. Furthermore, the Jakarta Red Cross is the only region to conduct screening for infectious diseases.

"Therefore, on behalf of the provincial administration and also the people of Jakarta and its surroundings, I would like to express my gratitude to the Jakarta Provincial Government for preparing facilities like this," he admitted.
