1,554 pet and stray cats in Central Jakarta have been sterilized by the end of September 2026.

Head of the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section of the Central Jakarta Maritime and Fisheries Sub-agency, Syafri Edwar, said that the routine cat sterilization carried out in eight districts from January to the end of September 2026 covered 1,554 cats.

He added that his team is targeting 2,200 cats to be successfully sterilized by the end of 2026.
"The target of sterilizing 500 female cats has been achieved. Meanwhile, the target of sterilizing 1,700 males will be maximized," he added.
Syafri explained that his party would implement a strategy to accelerate sterilization, especially for male cats, by opening services at eight district KPKP Implementing Units every two weeks.
"We also offer self-sterilization services at the Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency office every Friday with a quota of 10 male cats," he explained.
