In 2026, the Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) is building five new Animal Health Centers (Puskeswan).
Demand for animal healthcare is growing
Those new five facilities are located at the Pluit Fishery Product Center (PPISHP), Pulo Gebang Grape Garden, Klender Training Center, Semanan Flora and Fauna Center, and KPKP Office Building.
Jakarta KPKP Agency Head Hasudungan Sidabalok broke ground for the new Pluit Animal Health Center in North Jakarta.

He noted that Jakarta currently has only two Animal Health Centers: Ragunan and Pondok Ranggon.
“Demand for animal healthcare is growing alongside public awareness of animal health and welfare for pets and other animals," he explained, Wednesday (9/30).
He added that the new centers will expand the municipal veterinary network, easing the burden on the Ragunan and Pondok Ranggon locations.
“These new centers will ensure faster, more accessible, and more equitable animal healthcare services for residents across Jakarta," he added.
They will offer health checks, medical treatments, and surgery, equipped with diagnostic tools like hematology analyzers, blood chemistry, urine tests, ultrasound, fecal exams, and parasite tests.
“These facilities enable veterinarians to conduct thorough exams before setting a diagnosis and treatment plan," he stated.
Principally, they were built to deliver proper animal healthcare standards across the city.
They will also strengthen the government's role in preventing, diagnosing, treating, and controlling animal diseases and zoonoses.
Hasudungan added that Ragunan Animal Health Center will be upgraded into a provincial Animal Hospital serving as a referral center.
“All five new Animal Health Center units are targeted for completion in December 2026," he closed.
