According to the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Section of the South Jakarta Health Sub-agency, Fitria Ramdhita, prevention of the spread of dengue fever cases can be run by routinely, simultaneously, and continuously eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) 3M Plus (Draining, Closing, Recycling).
South Jakarta Vice Mayor Requests Optimization of Dengue Fever Prevention"PSN needs to be carried out routinely, simultaneously and continuously, at least once a week, by involving all elements of society," she said, Wednesday (10/14).
Health workers must also carry out epidemiological surveillance and entomological surveillance to monitor the development of cases, as well as identify risk factors for transmission based on the population density of dengue-transmitting mosquitoes.
"Case monitoring and reporting are also carried out through the Jakarta surveillance page as part of efforts to obtain a continuous picture of case developments," she added.
She also reminded the public to recognize the symptoms of dengue fever, get checked if they experience symptoms that indicate the disease, and keep the environment free from mosquito larvae.
Regarding the implementation of fogging, Fitri emphasized that this step is a last resort after a positive case is discovered and an Epidemiological Investigation (PE) is conducted.
"Fogging fluids contain chemicals that can trigger respiratory problems and other illnesses if used excessively. The most effective and safest measures remain the PSN 3M Plus and strengthening the Independent Jumantik program," she stated.
