International Music Concerts Drive Jakarta’s Economy and Tourism

Assistant for Economics and Finance to the Regional Secretary of Jakarta Province, Suharini Eliawati, stated that Jakarta's economic growth in the second half of 2026 reached 5.52 percent, exceeding the national figure of 5.29 percent. Furthermore, regional inflation in September 2026 was controlled at around 2.7 percent.

"The tourism sector is the largest contributor. For example, during weekend concerts and Pestapora, transactions reached Rp 250 billion," she said, Thursday (10/15).

Then, on October 24, Eli added, there will be a big concert which is estimated to be attended by around 15,800 foreign tourists from Australia, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Eli continued that during the three-day Jakarta WITF 2026 event, the OJK, BPS, and BI are involved in calculating transactions.

"The results of this activity can later be used as evaluation material for better implementation," she continued.

Eli also expressed the interest of the Jakarta Provincial Government to host the 2027 WTIF event which coincides with the 500th anniversary or 5 centuries of Jakarta.

Going forward, Eli stated she is working to increase sales of traditional Betawi batik through concerts in Jakarta so that it can gain global attention.

"To realize this, we have collaborated with various communities," she stated.

Eli then explained the Mudik (homecoming) program to Jakarta for the upcoming holiday. Eli said that his team has established collaborative communications with PT KAI (Indonesian Railway Company), the aviation industry, and other tourism companies for this program.

"It's hoped that tourists will spend more of their vacation time in Jakarta. The ultimate goal, of course, is to spend their money there," she admitted.
