International Events Credited with Boosting Jakarta’s Economy

Jakarta Legislative Council Chairman Suhud Alynudin is pushing the city administration to organize more international events, citing their potential to stimulate economic activity and draw global visitors.

We need more international-scale programs

Beyond boosting tourism, these high-profile gatherings can energize local businesses and support various economic sectors across the capital.

“The city should continuously host events like these to revitalise our economy. We need more international-scale programs to keep driving economic growth,” he expressed, Wednesday (10/28).

JRF, Ye Concert Inject Rp 625 Billion into Jakarta's Economy

He cited the Jakarta Running Festival (JRF) 2026, which drew thousands of participants, including runners from abroad. Large-scale events involving wide public participation should be held consistently, as they have the potential to boost economic activity, ranging from the tourism sector to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Earlier reports indicated that JRF 2026 alongside the Ye Live concert injected an estimated Rp 625 billion in overall economic turnover into the city.

JRF accounted for Rp 175 billion of the figure by engaging local vendors and small businesses, while the Ye Live concert generated an estimated Rp 450 billion in revenue flow.
