Head of Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata said the selection of Jakarta as a promotional destination is based on the potential tourist attractions that are relevant to the characteristics of the Brunei Darussalam market.

In addition, direct flight connectivity between Bandar Seri Begawan and Jakarta served by Royal Brunei Airlines and AirAsia is one of the supporting factors for easy access for tourists.

He added that direct experience is a crucial approach in international tourism marketing strategies. He believes that travel businesses, media outlets, and content creators need to see and feel directly before recommending a destination to their target market.

"Through a visit to the Seribu Islands, we want to show that Jakarta has an interesting marine tourism alternative that is accessible from the city center, complementing the various cultural, historical and culinary attractions that are already well known," he said, Monday (11/2).

Andhika hopes that through this activity, Seribu Islands will become increasingly known as an alternative marine tourism destination for international tourists, especially from the Southeast Asian region.

"This effort is also part of a strategy to strengthen Jakarta's competitiveness as a global city that offers a diversity of tourism experiences," he added.

Head of Marketing and Attractions at the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Lucky Wulandary explained that the tourism industry's involvement in this activity is part of a strategy to ensure that destination promotions can continue to become concrete collaboration opportunities.

"We want this activity not to stop at a destination introduction visit, but to be followed up by developing Jakarta tour packages that are ready to be marketed to Brunei Darussalam tourists," she explained.

Head of the Foreign Tourism Marketing Subgroup of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Ervienia Oryza stated that the involvement of media and content creators is an important instrument for expanding Jakarta's promotional reach in the international market.

She hopes that the first-hand experience gained by participants can be translated into informative and interesting content and publications for potential tourists.

"We will also continue to cooperate with the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan to ensure that this activity has a follow-up in strengthening the promotion of Jakarta tourism in Brunei Darussalam," she stated.

As for information, participants were invited to explore several prime destinations in the Seribu Islands over two days, gaining a closer understanding of Jakarta's diverse marine tourism offerings. The journey began at Sunda Kelapa Pier and headed to Bidadari Island, which not only offers natural beauty and a resort atmosphere but also preserves historical heritage.

One of these is the Martello Fort, a Dutch colonial relic that testifies to the history of Batavia's maritime defense and surveillance system at the time. The fort's existence demonstrates that the Seribu Islands have a tourist appeal that relies not only on their marine beauty but also on their rich history and cultural heritage.

The trip then continued to Macan Island, one of Jakarta's marine tourism destinations that promotes the eco-island concept. During this visit, the delegation was introduced to ecotourism-based tourism development that prioritizes the principles of sustainability, environmental preservation, and harmony between tourism activities and the natural ecosystem.

Macan Island also provides an overview of the potential for developing a tourist destination that not only offers recreational experiences but also prioritizes environmental awareness.

The trip then continued to Sepa Island, where the delegation was staying. During their stay, participants had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of beach facilities and recreational activities, including a swimming pool, mini-soccer field, and volleyball court.

The marine tourism experience was further enhanced by snorkeling and coastal exploration activities on Dolphin Island. This series of visits provided the delegation with a look at the diverse marine tourism potential of the Seribu Islands, ranging from beach recreation, sports and entertainment activities, island exploration, and nature-based tourism.

In addition to introducing the potential of marine tourism in the Seribu Islands, this activity was also equipped with a business meeting that brought together travel agents/tour operators from Brunei Darussalam with members of IINTOA Jakarta, represented by Jakarta Creative Tourism and OneAsia.

This meeting serves as a forum to explore opportunities for collaboration and build business networks in order to expand the promotion and marketing of Jakarta's tourist destinations in the Brunei Darussalam market.
