City-South Jakarta Interested to Develop LRT

The city administration and South Korea Government is establishing a cooperation in construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT). It is hoped can be complete before 2018 Asian Games.

South Jakarta is committed to help us developing the LRT from Kelapa Gading until Velodrome

"South Jakarta is committed to help us developing the LRT from Kelapa Gading until Velodrome," said Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama, at City Hall, Thursday (7/28).

He added, they are still focused on a review about LRT development with Kelapa Gading-Velodrome route. Further, it will be continued with another review for Dukuh Atas route.

LRT Will Use Standard Rail

"Then corridor until Dukuh Atas, they need six months to make the review and one year for the review in Jakarta. Totally, there are seven corridors," he stated.

According to him, they are also interested to invest for some corridors and does not need review. "Some are indeed interested. That's why they need review first. I hope they can help us developing the LRT)," he expressed.

Basuki assessed LRT is very important in Jakarta. Because it is most easy and fast to overcome congestion in major cities. "We can not possibly cope with congestion without rail-based," he finished.
