Overall, the market is three-story with approximately 300 kiosks, not including the existing market on the basement with 119 kiosks and 60 stalls.
“For the existing market, it operates from 03.00 AM because at 05.00 AM many people are already shopping. We keep doing socialization to change the habit of old traders to maintain hygiene,” he told.
Zone pattern is applied in Pondok Indah Market. The basement is for staples, vegetables, meat, and fish sales, the ground floor is for Muslim clothing and jewelry sales, the second floor is for clothes and other business, and the third floor is a for food court as well as electronics and mobile phone trade center.
Although up until now there have not been a lot of trading activities except vegetables and meat commodity, Pondok Indah Market management is still trying to promote this newly refurbished traditional market.
“We’ve made publication and held gymnastics on every Sunday morning. We will also plan to provide a place for people who want to hold Qur’an recital, so at least they would know there are good stuff here,” uttered Rukino.
