Chili Price in Kramat Jati Market Creep Up

Chili price in Kramat Jati Market is increasing up to 23 percent. It is because of low supply since last week. Whereas, in mid-July, the price had decreased.

The most expensive is cayenne pepper

Rahmat (42), one of traders said, since last week, chili price continues to rise but not too significant. Considering the supply also continues to decrease.

"Chili price continues to rise since last week. Surely it is complained by the buyer in the market," he told, Tuesday (8/1).

Chili Price Rocketing Again

Manager of Kramat Jati Market, Nurman Adhi justified, in the third week of July, the price had decreased from Rp 25,500/kg to Rp 17,500/kg. When entering the fourth week until early August, it returned to increase. 

He described curly chili pepper increased from Rp 23,000 to Rp 24,800/kg, big red chili pepper from Rp 18,500/kg to Rp 22,700/kg, red cayenne pepper from Rp 40,100/kg to Rp 41,200/kg and green cayenne pepper from Rp 14,000/kg to Rp 15,800/kg. The increase is between 3-23 percent.

"The most expensive is cayenne pepper. The cause is low supply and quality," he finished.
