43 Illegal Building at Jelambar Utara Connecting Channel Demolished

As many as 43 illegal buildings above Jelambar Utara Connecting channel, RW 05, 06, and 08, Jelambar Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan Sub-district, West Jakarta were controlled.

Mostly the water channels are closed by resident buildings

Teguh Hendrawan, Jakarta Head Dept. of Water Management said total water channel in Jakarta is 1,169. Some of them are closed by buildings.

“Mostly the water channels are closed by resident buildings,” he said, Thursday (8/11).

121 Illegal Buildings at Pedok River Controlled

The closed water channel has disturbed the personnel to dredge the channel.

“For the sake of channel normalization, all area conduct channel controlling from illegal buildings or manholes,” he added.

Imron Syahrin, West Jakarta Head Sub-dept. of Water Management, stated 100 joint personnel of his agency freelancers, Satpol PP, PPSU, army and police were deployed. One excavator, breaker, and eight dump trucks were also involved.

“After demolishing the buildings, channel will be dredged from mud and trash,” he closed.
