Jakarta Health Department to Return Fauzan Family’s Money

Head of Jakarta Health Department, Dien Emmawati, denied the rumor saying that some hospitals in Jakarta rejected to treat Muhammad Fauzan Syahputra, an 11-month old baby who suffers meningitis.

Jakarta Provincial Government will cover all of Fauzan’s medical expenses, considering his family is categorized as Jakarta Health Card (KJS) recipient

“That is not right. From Kebon Jeruk Community Health Center, Fauzan was referred to Budi Kemuliaan Hospital. But due to inadequate facilities there, he was then referred to Royal Taruma Hospital. We have our own mechanism,” stated Emmawati after visiting Fauzan at Tarakan General Hospital, Central Jakarta, Friday (5/9).

According to Emmawati, Jakarta Health Department is ready to return all of the medical expenses as much as Rp 17 million that had been paid by Fauzan’s family to the hospital.

Meningitis Boy Needs Rp 70 Million

Jakarta Provincial Government will cover all of Fauzan’s medical expenses, considering his family is categorized as Jakarta Health Card (KJS) recipient,” she said.

Regarding the complaint about Social Security Administrative Body (BPJS) and National Health Insurance (JKN), Emmawati stressed that it was merely miscommunication and misinformation, and that every hospital must handle it.

“Once again I emphasized that hospital must not reject patients and communication and information should be bridged. It must not happen again, we’ll reprimand them (hospitals) later,” she asserted.

However, Emmawati acknowledged that hospitals in Jakarta are indeed have limited inpatient rooms. Thus, they cannot accommodate patients in large amount at the same time.

“Indeed, patients are increasing at this time. Mr. Governor already knew about this, that facilities for ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU are still limited. That’s why we currently building Koja Hospital with a capacity of 400 rooms, Budi Asih Hospital 200 rooms, and Pasar Minggu Hospital 450 rooms. It is planned that the same concept will be imposed in community health centers,” she uttered.
