Pantura Dike Construction Aims Reducing Flood

Flood in the capital can not be handled well before completing the north beach dike construction. The existing dike height is only 2.8 meters, or still under tidal wave by three meters.

Why flood remains occur, because the dike is yet completed

“Why flood remains occur, because the dike is yet completed,” said Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama, Monday (8/22).

According to him, flood will remain hit Jakarta of the dike is not completed. If it is added with local rain during three days, then 40 percent of Jakarta areas will be flooded.

City Keeps Improving Infrastructure for Flood Handling

If there is no tidal wave, he added, flood in Jakarta will recede quickly. It is because all water channels are dredged and water pumps are also deployed.

“No tidal wave means flood in Jakarta will quickly recede,” he added.

Basuki admitted keeps buying heavy equipments to dredge the channel. It is predicted channel dredging can be completed in two years by keeping buying heavy equipments.

“Heavy equipments will assist us completing the channel dredging in two years,” he closed.
