Jokowi Asked for Ulama Support Controlling City Programs

Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), asked for city ulama support in developing the capital city. With their support, Jokowi hopes all the Jakarta Provincial Government programs can run well and smoothly.

“I ask your support so that developments in the city run well,” said Jokowi in front of dozens of ulamas in Ulama and Umaro Gathering at the City Hall, Tuesday (5/13).

According to Jokowi, the support is important, seeing the mega projects such as Ciliwung River normalization, 24 reservoir constructions, and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) development working on this year. “This year, there are many mega projects working on,” added Jokowi.

Without ulama role, especially in disseminating and conveying to society, the planned programs could be hard to be realized. Moreover, the city budget is increasing to Rp 72 trillion in this year.

Besides that, this former of Solo Mayor also asked the ulamas to control the programs working on by City Provincial Government so that the budget can be absorbed in accordance with its allocation.

“Moreover our budget is increasing to 72, not million, not billion, but trillion. I think that the control from the residents is needed. Do not let the budget for the residents is miss targeted,” Jokowi uttered.

The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Political Party, Dien Syamsudin, is seen attending this event and gave a speech to the audience. Also, Regional Representative Council (DPD) member, AM Fatwa, also attended this event.
