Jokowi’s Leave Permission to Be Signed Soon by SBY

Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo met with the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) at the Stae Palace on Tuesday (5/13). Jokowi’s arrival was to submit request for leave as presidential candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

I’ve got the permission to leave. The proposal will be signed tomorrow

According to Jokowi, the president responded it quickly by approving his leave proposal which will be signed soon. “I’ve got the permission to leave. The proposal will be signed tomorrow,” he stated, Tuesday (5/13).

The leave proposal Jokowi’s submitted is for non-active leave as Jakarta Governor, not resignation proposal. However, he did not know how long he would take leave. “I don’t know how long, because the time limit of leave was not mentioned in the proposal,” he told.

Jokowi Ready to Take Leave

As known, Jokowi is taking long leave following his candidacy as the 2014-2019 Indonesian President. The provision of leave is stated in Government Regulation No. 18/2013 that says regional leaders who will participate in the presidential election campaign must take leave. The leave deadline is 12 days before presidential candidacy registration to General Election Commission (KPU) on upcoming May 18.
