30 Street Vendors on Jalan Abdullah Syafei Netted

The ranks of Jatinegara Sub-District Satpol PP netted 30 street vendors around Jalan Abdullah Syafei, Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, Wednesday (5/14). As many as five carts, seven umbrella tents, and several other equipments belong to the street vendors were seized.

“This is the third time we net them. Until now, we have netted more than 30 street vendors,” stated Jatinegara Sub-District Satpol PP Control Field Coordinator, Irfan.

Irfan informed that those vendors were netted because they were selling merchandises on roadside and disturbing traffic flows. Moreover, they also made place looked dirty and slum due to a lot of trashes piling up along the road.

Street Vendors Rampant, Traders’ Earnings Declining

“We deploy 30 joint personnel from three urban villages, namely Bidaracina, Balimester, and Kampung Melayu,” he told.

Meanwhile, Head of East Jakarta Satpol PP City’s Facilities and Infrastructures Section, Agus Sidiki, explained that the raid against street vendors will continuously be done because it is conducted to give convenience for people, especially road users.

According to Sidiki, most of the netted street vendors were old faces. Majority of them are from outside Jakarta and do not have ID Cards (KTP).
