Tens of demonstrators staged a demonstration in front of City Hall building, Thursday (9/29). They demand a pay hike of Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) amounting to Rp 4 million per month.

It is better your wage Rp 3.5 million but living cost is only Rp 2.5 million. So we will give you subsidy

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama disclosed, his party is still trying to suppress living cost in the capital. That is by providing subsidy in terms of transportation, grocery, meat, health and education.

"I say the important is how much you've got after working? For what you demand a pay hike by Rp 5 million per month but product competitiveness is bad," he exclaimed, at City Hall, Thursday (9/29).

He assessed, it is better the salary by Rp 3.5 million, yet living cost is cheap. Thus it does not burden the employers as well.

"It is better your wage Rp 3.5 million but living cost is only Rp 2.5 million. So we will give you subsidy," he stressed.

The city administration has provided subsidy in some fields such as Transportation, health, education and grocery. In future, more than Rp 3 trillion will be allocated for transportation.
