50,000 New Flats Targeted to Be Complete in 2017

Flat construction in Jakarta keeps being intensified, which is a program to provide a decent housing for lower-class people. Until 2017, the city administration is targeting to finish 50,000 flats. Later on, its procurement will hit middle-class people

So, there will be flat in the middle of the city

It also relates to solve traffic jam. Currently, mostly workers are living in outside of Jakarta. By providing a decent housing in city, the vehicle volume is expected able to be reduced.

"Thus, it would save living costs and time. And the government also does not need to provide a lot of public transport from outside city into capital city," said Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama, at City Hall, Tuesday (9/15).

According to Ahok, the nowadays middle-class people cannot afford to buy home in the city due to expensive price. "So, another target is also middle-class people. Considering most of them are living in outside the city," he explained.

From 50 flats, he furthered, as much as 12,000 or 24 percent would be built for low-cost subsidized apartment (rusunami) or same as apartment for middle-upper class. Some of them are planned to be built on a land of Kemayoran which will used as an Athlete Guesthouse with 7,200 units, Pasar Rumput with 2,300 units and Pasar Minggu with 2,500 units.

"So, there will be flat in the middle of the city. At Tanah Abang Block G for instance, we plan to provide hundreds, likewise with Grogol," he finished.
