A train crossing on Jl Letjen Suprapto, Bungur, Senen, Central Jakarta that was shut down on Saturday (10/1) by Transportation Ministry through General Directorate of Railways is deemed ineffective, because it leads to traffic jam.

Guntur (33), a motorcycle disclosed, he did not know the train crossing that has been shut down. He wanted to go to Jl Kalibaru Timur and had to get around pass on Jl Kepu Selatan.

"It's ineffective, because traffic jam moves to Jl Kepu Selatan," he told, when being met in Senen area, Monday (3/10).

No Train Doorstop, Train Crossing in Bojong Raya Prone to Accident

Similar statement also came out Sharul (26). He said, the alternative road cannot accommodate the vehicle volume. As a result, it leads to traffic jam from Jl Bungur Besar Raya towards Jl Kepu Selatan.

Meanwhile, Head of Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept, Harlem Simanjuntak disclosed his side is still conducting a trial. Hence, so far, his side still uses Jl Krepu Selatan as alternative road.

"Trial itself takes one month. Indeed, Jl Krepu Selatan was previously jammed. After it is done, there will be evaluation," he stated.

As for the information, such closure is in accordance with Law No. 23/2007 on Railways. In article 91 paragraph 1, the law reveals train crossing with road must be made not plot.
