Dozens of Tanah Abang PKLs' Stalls Controlled

Dozens of cadgers’ stalls and carts and 23 people with social welfare problem (PMKS) were controlled by Central Jakarta Administration in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Monday (5/19) at dawn.

Besides PKLs’ stalls and carts, we also managed to secure 23 PMKSs, one of them is commercial sex worker (PSK)

180 joint personnel of Satpol PP, City Transportation Department, TNI, Police and Garrison were deployed in the controlling. The officers swept along Jalan Fachrudin, Jati Bunder, Jembatan Tinggi, Stasiun Tanah Abang, Pasar Blok G and ended at Pasar Blok A Tanah Abang.

Head of Central Jakarta Satpol PP, Yadi Rusmayadi, said that Tanah Abang area controlling was done due to stubborn cadgers selling on roads. “This operation is aimed to clean Tanah Abang from PKL,” he said on Monday (5/19).

Tanah Abang Area Chaotic Again

Rusmayadi admitted that the raid targets were food and drink stalls covering road which lead to congestion. “Besides PKLs’ stalls and carts, we also managed to secure 23 PMKSs, one of them is commercial sex worker (PSK). PMKSs were netted on Jalan Fachrudin and Tanah Abang Station. While the PSK was netted at Jembatan Tinggi,” he added.

Dozens of PKLs’ stalls were transported directly to a building belongs to Jakarta Provincial Government in Cakung, East Jakarta, meanwhile dozens of PMKSs were handled to Kedoya Social Institution, West Jakarta.

To keep Tanah Abang area free from PKL, Rusmayadi stated that Tanah Abang area will be controlled by officers every day. “We will mobilize 50 personnel to patrol, not just to stand by in the location to be more effective,” he stated.

Hidayatullah, Head of Tanah Abang Sub-District, said that his party is going to keep Tanah Abang free from PKL. Moreover, based on report, there will be more PKL selling on roads after Idul Fitri.

“Therefore, we prevent by massive controlling. We will place Satpol PP officers in Tanah Abang everyday,” stated Hidayatullah.
