Residents Request Bridge of Jl Amalia Elevated

Residents living in a densely populated area are complaining the PIK Connecting Channel Bridge, Jl Amalia, RT 01/014, Kampung Jembatan, Penggilingan, Cakung, East Jakarta. They demand the bridge to be demolished.

If the bridge was elevated, garbage won't be stuck again. Water can also flow heavily, not stuck on the bridg

The low position of the bridge has 80 cm distance from water surface thus water debit becomes high and garbage clog on the bridge and the water overflowing into homes.

Chairman of RW 13 Penggilingan, Hidayat Bostam asks the bridge should be elevated.

"If the bridge was elevated, garbage won't be stuck again. Water can also flow heavily, not stuck on the bridge," he stated, Tuesday (10/25).

Section Head of Cakung Sub-district Water Management, Subandi disclosed, the bridge on Jl Amalia is the cause of inundation in RW 13 Taman Buaran Indah 4 Penggilingan Residence. That is why the bridge should be demolished and replaced with the new ones but it must be elevated.

"The bridge should be demolished and replaced with concave model. Thus, when water debit was high, the bridge won't stop water flow and garbage does not get clogged," he expressed, when checking the channel.

His side will instruct East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-dept to follow up such request, which aims to overcome flood case.
