The rainy season is starting to affect the supply of chili to the Kramat Jati Market. As a result, the price of chili pepper in the market experienced fluctuation.

The trigger is due to low supply, down by 37 percent from ideal supply

Pasar Induk Kramat Jati Manager, Nurman Adhi disclosed, on the first week of this month, curly chili pepper price hits Rp 56,700 per kg, second week Rp 48,700 per kg and third week Rp 54,000 per kg.

"Then big red chili pepper Rp 57,400 per kg on the first week , second week Rp 53,200 per kg and third week Rp 53,000 per kg," he expressed, Thursday 911/15).

Further, red chili on the first week hits Rp 42,700 pe kg, second week Rp 47,800 per kg and third week Rp 44,000 per kg. While the first week, green chili pepper hits Rp 25,100 per kg, second week Rp 27,200 per kg and third week Rp 28,000 per kg.

"The trigger is due to low supply, down by 37 percent from ideal supply. The normal supply is 120 tons per day, and now about 80-85 tons per day," he said.

He added chili price is still above the ideal and somewhat higher. Ideally, curly red chili pepper price is only Rp 25-30,000 per kg, green chili pepper Rp 10 -12,000 per kg, red chili sauce Rp 17-20,000 per kg and big red chili pepper Rp 30-35,000 per kg.

Admittedly, the rainy season this time greatly affects the supply of chili, because it will be easy to rot. In addition a number of local suppliers are also experiencing crop failure.
