Pesanggrahan River Overflows, Jalan Ciledug Raya Bogged Down

Parking lot of Cipulir Market is inundated for 30-60 centimeters high after Pesanggrahan River overflows, Friday (5/23). Because of this condition, the market visitors had to park their vehicles on roadside. As a result, traffic on Jalan Ciledug Raya, South Jakarta, particularly on the lane from Kebayoran Lama towards Petakungan, becomes congested.

The congestion is very severe. From Seskoal until Cipulir Market takes nearly an hour

“The congestion is very severe. From Seskoal until Cipulir Market takes nearly an hour,” lamented Adrian (28), a motorist passing in the location.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the slow lane towards Petukangan cannot be passed because it is used as parking lot by Cipulir Market visitors for as long as 500 meters until bend to Jalan Ulujami. Unfortunately, no policemen as well as South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department officers were seen in the field. Thus, severe traffic congestion is inevitable.

Flood Hits 1,253 Houses in Kampung Pulo

Commenting on this matter, Head of South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department Supervision and Control Section, AB Nahor, stated that his party indeed gives permission for Cipulir Market visitors to park their vehicles on roadside in front of the market.

“Yes, because the market is inundated, the vehicles are directed to park on roadside,” he told.

As known, Cipulir Market is often inundated every time Pesanggrahan River overflows. To suck the water, the market management prepares pump. But until now, there is no solution yet to overcome flooding in the market which is the largest textile wholesale center in South Jakarta.
