25 Illegal Shacks on Ciliwung Riverbank Demolished

In an effort to control slum areas, dozens of illegal shacks and shanties built by people with social welfare problems (PMKS) along the bank of Ciliwung River, RW 01, Kebon Manggis Urban Village, East Jakarta, are demolished.

A total of 25 illegal shacks standing on Ciliwung Riverbank are torn down and destroyed by Matraman Sub-District Satpol PP personnel who got assistance from the police and East Jakarta Agriculture and Forestry Sub-Department.

“Before the control is done, we have taken a persuasive effort until given third warning letter,” stated the Head of Matraman Sub-District Satpol PP Task Force, M Navis, Monday (5/26).

According to Head of Matraman Sub-District, Harry Nugroho, this illegal buildings control must be carried out because their existence has disturbed the convenience of local residents.
