147 Golfers to Light Up World Junior Golf Championship

As much as 147 under-18 golfers from 22 countries will take part in the 2014 Enjoy Jakarta world junior golf championship set to take place June 3-6 at Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) golf course, South Tangerang, Banten.

Director of Junior Golf Tournament, Rizal Arya disclosed those participants are from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Guam, India, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Philippine, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United State, Vietnam, Netherlands and Indonesia.

"Thailand golfers are still a superior, either from professional, amateur or junior. Moreover, they became the first champion in the previous year's tournament," said Arya, Monday (5/26).

BPBD Holds Disaster Handling Competition

He continued that Malaysian golfers will likely not participate in the tournament this year. This is because, at the same they have taken part in the National Games (PON) in Malaysia.

The tournament will be split into two categories, namely group and individual. The group category consists of boys and girls, dividing into two golfers. While for the individual category, divided into four age groups, boys and girls. 

He details Group A (15 to 17-years-old), Group B (13-14), Group C (11-12) and Group D (10 and under). For participants with the best gross score of all participants (best of the best) will get the Ciputra Trophy. While the overall champion will get the Jakarta Governor Trophy. "In this tournament, Indonesia is targeting will be the best of boys and girls," he uttered.
