Search of Zahro Express Victims Focused on 1 Mile Area

The search of missing passengers from the Zahro Express ferry that exploded on its way to Tidung Island in North Jakarta last Sunday will be continued until one week ahead. As the initial action, the search is focused on around 1 mile from the scene.

On the first day, we focus on 1 mile area from the scene

Section Head of Public Relation for Basarnas, Marsudi disclosed the search will be conducted for seven days by deploying a team of divers.

"Based on the manifest, there are only 100 victims, but already evacuated 274 victims," he stated, Monday (1/2).

Personnel Evacuate Zahro Express Boat Victims

Besides Basarnas team, it also involves police, army, Transportation Dept and other units. It is possible the number of missing victims could rise from the estimated about 17 people.

"On the first day, we focus on 1 mile area from the scene. According to SOP, the search is held for one week," he closed.

Meanwhile, Head of Waters Transport and Harbor Service Unit, Syamsudin explained, when the incident occurred, the ship sailed about 10 minutes from Muara Angke Pier. Predictably, fire occurred in the waters between Muara Angke and Bidadari islands.
