Chili Price Keeps Rising

Due to lack of supply, the chili price keeps rising. No wonder, chili supply is only between 40-50 tons, while the needs of chili every day reaches 120 tons.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Sumarsono disclosed the rising chili price has an impact on inflation. Lack of chili supply, causing the price continues to rise up to Rp 150 tons per kg.

"Our supply is ideally 120 tons. But, every day, it is only between 40-50 tons," he stated, at City Hall, Monday (1/9).

Sumarsono revealed that had visited the local producer to add more supplies. But it could not be realized, because they have been in contract with private company.

"Indeed this is not easy," he expressed.

Another move is taken to control chili price, which is by planting chili tree. It will be carried out in Ciangir, South Tangerang.

"We'll provide 18,000 trees on one-hectare land," he expressed.

He added Jakarta Security Food, Maritime and Agriculture Dept would do it.

"Once every three months, it can be harvested with a considerable mount," he uttered.
