Hundreds of Campaign Attributes Lowered

Jakarta Satpol PP lowered hundreds of political parties as well as president and vice president candidates campaign attributes displayed in public facilities.

In Central Jakarta, the target locations were Menteng, precisely along Jalan Teuku Umar, Suropati Park, Jalan Teuku Cik Ditiro, and Jalan Raden Saleh.

“ We do controlling indiscriminately. All attributes displayed not in the right place will be controlled . Besides, this is not the time yet of campaign period. So, we control any violator,” stated Head of Jakarta Satpol PP, Kukuh Hadi Santosa, Thursday (5/29).

According to Santosa, the control was done in accordance to Jakarta Governor Instruction that demands control on political parties or president and vice president candidates campaign attributes. It is also conducted to enforce Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order since the installation of campaign attributes is illegal as well as ruins the beauty of the city.

In East Jakarta, as many as 224 president and vice president candidates banners lowered from a number of locations, namely Jalan Otista Raya, Jalan MT Haryono, Jalan Dewi Sartika, Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC) Pedestrian Bridge (JPO), BKN JPO, and UKI JPO.

“Those banners do not have (installation) permit and ruin the beauty of the city. It’s better to use social media, so the use of outdoor media could be reduced,” said Head of East Jakarta Satpol PP Facilities and Infrastructures Section, Agus Sadiki.
